Cholesterol? "The Cholesterol Myth" appeared in the Atlantic Monthly September, 1989. In part, it states that at age 62, out of 100,000 people, there will be significantly little difference in heart attacks between people with low cholesterol and high. In fact, half of all heart attacks occur in people that have no prior symptoms and low cholesterol levels. Now, years later, many are suggesting a number of other possible causes: High Homosystine levels, inflammation; bacteria; stress; of course, cigarette smoking; lack of exercise, overindulgence, etc. Can also be found at: http://www.chelationtherapyonline.com/technical/p35.htm

The Cholesterol Myths

Chlamydia pneumoniae and Cardiovascular Disease
Bacteria implicated in Atherosclerosis lesions. Chlamydia pneumoniae, different from sexually transmitted Chlamydia, may be involved in hardening of the arteries. Unfortunately, a recent double blind study did not kill the bacteria using a z-pac antibiotic for six months. At this writing there is no known way to rid the body of this bacteria.
More information: Chlamydia Pneumoniae

May, 2003, "Pneumonia Vaccine May Hold Heart Benefit" published in Nature Medicine.

Boca Raton News, May 12, 2003 page 3, paraphrased: 'Mice vaccine using a bacteria that is a common cause of pneumonia.....developed high levels of an antibody that slows or halts the progression of heart decease.....paper authored by Gregg Silverman and Joseph J. Witztum......fed mice high cholesterol diets for 24 months..1/2 vaccinated showed a 21% reduction in ATHEROSCLEROSIS in their aortas compared with mice not vaccinated. "We believe that the pneumo-coccal vaccinations in our study induced antibodies that removed the lipid and cell breakdown products, preventing their deposits in the critical arteries" Silverman said. He said the body's immune system is probably always working to protect against this disease and the vaccinations may be a way to boost the efficiency of this natural defense...'new formulations for human trials would be required'.

The Cardiovascular Cure by John P. Cooke, MD, PhD and Judith Zimmer - Dr. Cooke is an MD, heart researcher - This book is a must read for those interested in the subject. In part, he recommends taking L'arginine supplements daily, which convert to Nitrous Oxide, which in turn dilates (opens) the coronary arteries. This is the same mechanism as in Viagra.

Homocysteine elevation has been strongly implemented in a mechanism blocking the arteries. Consider taking a "B" complex100 daily.

C-Reactive Protein Surpasses LDL in Predicting Cardiovascular Disease - C-Reactive protein measures inflammation. Another reason for taking a baby aspirin daily.

Periodontal Disease, C-Reactive Protein and Overall Health - I wonder what the relationship is between the mouth, teeth and harmful bacteria entering the blood stream...
